Man, I am having one of those days. You know the day. I am hungry like crazy, but nothing is appealing. Mac and cheese? Takes too long. Cereal? Too sugary. Sandwich? Ran out of cheese. (How could we ever run out of cheese??) I'll probably have to bite the bullet and eat the cereal.

In other news...Fleas. Yes, friends and neighbors, my cats have contracted fleas. I'm guessing it was their last escape to the outside world, damnit. Measures are already being set into motion to take care of this problem. I *have* three tubes of the Advantage right now, but I have 5 cats, and that probably wouldn't work out. I'm afraid all the fleas would jump off the three that are treated and onto the two that were not, which in this case would be the two smaller ones. Also, I'm really, *really* hoping these aren't the tape worm carrying fleas.

I'm working on a quilt befor washing it. It's a store bought quilt, made with a machine, possibly by asians in a factory. It was not an expensive quilt and as such, it began to lose seams fairly quickly. I am repairing it by hand. My post alpacalips* skill is sewing! As I am placing each little stitch, carefully and with control, I am thinking about my pioneering women forebears. Quilting has always been such woman's work. Quilts that are heirlooms, are that way not just because of their age, but because most often there have been so many women's hands involved. There is so much technology today, and so many advanced advantages, and yet sometimes the old ways are still best. Quilts made by machines lose seams. Quilts with hand sewn seams are stronger, and better. Also, it just *feels* nice to be making this thing my own. It's not cold any more. It's not *a* quilt. It's *my* quilt.
