Popular! You're gonna be POPu-ular!
Feb. 3rd, 2006 05:51 amAh, what a day. I'm reporting to you from Tampa, where Rachelle has treated Brian and I to our late Christmas pressies. Namely tickets to see the musical, Wicked! For those poor souls who haven't heard of this, it's the musical based on the book of the same name, which portrays the story of the Wicked Witch of the West from her own perspective. I can't rfeally focus enough to give a cogent reveiw, but I can just say, "Whoopee!
It was all pretty awsome. The story was awsome, the music, the costumes...everything.
I am in love with witches now. Not the modern day pagan practicers of wicca, though I have no problems with them, but the iconic idea of the Witch. The mysterious, possibly frightening woman, (or man) who knows too much, and tells too truthfully. The woman who people fear because women are supposed to be healers and givers, not *thinkers*, and fighters. In other words, magical bitches. HA!
But seriously...I like the wicked witch. I like her counterpart in Into The Woods as well. Mysanthropic women are an interesting breed, and I'm becoming more of a Wicked Witch every day I think.
In other news, our hotel is just down the street from a drive through public park that Rachelle claims is the big makeout spot for gays at night. She explained that her and a friend used to do a midnight skating event that the park stayed open for on certain nights, but she and her friend stopped because they kept accidentally disturbing couples. The couple would rise up to flee, lest they be identified, and they'd scare the skating girls. I chuckled, and said, "Like accidentally spooking a deer." I imagine the white tails were different though. Brian laughed and said, "We should come back and start a new sport. Spotlighting queer!"
(Author's note. I almost didn't post that last bit. I do worry about hurting the feelings of people I care for, and a strangely large amount of them are gay. But then I remembered that I was admiring the witch concept. Would a witch really care if they offended people? No. So, if you are a sensitive, fragile flower, I'm sorry if I offened you. I still think it's damned funny, but I appologize. *snicker*)
