So! There is rash of good news on my Friends List. Congrats to everyone with good news! Our good news is that we got a new car! Yep! It's a Chevy HHR. It's kind of a wagon, not an SUV. It gets good gas milage, and it's a pretty sweet ride.

Basicly the story is this: We have been thinking of getting a new car for awhile. The Saturn we got from my Mom was really a good car, but it wasn't getting along with the dirt road situation that Brian would have to give it when driving up to the TV tower. So, today Brian goes to talk with the school's Credit Union, and he finds out that he can get financed for a new car, and his credit is very good now. Very good news indeed. We had looked at Bajas, and at some other cars, and he was leaning towards a Dodge. Today though we had gone to the Mall, and spotted this thing called the Chevy HHR. We shrugged and went to take a test drive. Brian found it pricey, but it's the end of the month, and Sales Guys are hungry. Brian knew what his limit was befor he went in, so after the test drive he dropped me off and went back with his sword and shield to do battle. He made the sales guy *dance* anf in the end, he came back with a *BRAND NEW CAR* (Our first!), and only slightly higher payments than befor. We'll probably be making a trip to LaGrange soon to show off. Oh yeah, and it's orange! See picture below. I think Brian got it orange because that's MY favorate color!

PS: I was typing to [livejournal.com profile] mbwun about it, and she mentioned it was, "cute as a button! Wait...Cute *with* buttons." I laughed and agreed. It has many buttons. I told her that I didn't get to play with them all, but I wouldn't be surprised if I pressed one, and a little sex dwarf popped out and offered me a soda! I'm a sick little girl!

So, it's spring break season. We have Canadian spring break, "regular" Spring Break, and Black College Reunion, also known as BCR. Now, these events all come with a certain amount of stupidity. Young humans act really retarded when doing the whole, "I'm away from parental control, and close to hotties of the opposite sex." I still get a little disturbed though over the underlying rancor that seems to single out BCR. Why are white people still so frightened by gatherings of black people? It's not like a Black Panter rally. It's fucking college kids.

Some of you from Atlanta may remember Freaknik. Well, one year I got stuck with my boyfriend, a friend, and two of his friends, right on the strip. We had been on the way to a club, totally unrelated to the whole Freaknik thing. Our exit had been blocked off, so we went up this other exit, and boom, right in it. Then his car died. Did the negros suddenly smell white chalky blood and turn on us? No. In fact we had brothers trying to help look at the car, and people offering us drinks. And sure we saw things I did not think I would ever see, like young men sitting on the roofs of cars with their pants pulled down off their ass. I don't know what *that* is about, but you know what? It doesn't matter. People were having a good time, and at least where *we* were, no one was fighting, or wilding, or acting aggressive. And *still* the female friend to my boyfriend was *afraid* to go to the bathroom by herself. WTF?

I know that tonight especially, and throughout this weekend, a certain amount of traffic is going to build. The main street between my hotel and the boardwalk area already has cones set up, presumably in anticipation of a strip begining. In BCRs past, I have seen some pretty fancy cars, and this activity is *going* to pop up as various groups and people show off their pimped out vehicles, and their systems, and cruise for members of the opposite sex to impress. Honestly this is the only thing about BCR that annoys me. But I don't like it when all the old Turkey Rod Runners show up with their tricked out antique vehicles, causing much the same traffic snarl. I'm not fond when the bikers do it for Bike Week. It's really bad for the Daytona 500 races. It's just the price I pay for living in Daytona.

I just wish people would lay off the black kids. I know some of them will get into trouble. Some of the white kids do too. Just seems like when you expect so little of someone, there isn't much inspiration to be better. It's sad to me is all.
